Cross Country has the job volume that makes them worth keeping in your rotation. My first two contracts through them were excellent — great recruiter, strong packages, smooth process. The last contract was decidedly average — different recruiter, slower responses, package lower than I expected. The inconsistency is the defining Cross Country experience. When they're good, they're genuinely good. When they're not, they're just another big agency.

Three stars exactly captures Cross Country. Large agency, lots of positions, professional process. The recruiter experience is inconsistent — I've had two great ones and one who was clearly overextended and couldn't give me proper attention. Pay varies in the same way: sometimes competitive, sometimes a full 10% below what I find elsewhere for the same contract. Worth using as a job-search tool but not as your primary agency unless you got lucky with a great recruiter.

Cross Country has a lot of school SLP positions. That's why I use them. Consistency is the problem — my first recruiter was fantastic and found me three consecutive school contracts. When she left, the new recruiter wasn't as knowledgeable about school SLP dynamics. Pay has been fair but inconsistent. I've seen the same school district contract come in at different rates from Cross Country versus other agencies. Three stars — useful but unpredictable.

Cross Country is a lottery. I've had great experiences and poor ones with them, and I can't predict which I'll get. The company itself is solid — good technology, decent benefits, wide facility network. But the recruiter is everything in travel therapy, and Cross Country's recruiter pool is enormous and uneven. Three stars because average is genuinely what they deliver: sometimes above, sometimes below.

New traveler experience with Cross Country was just okay. The job volume is impressive — they had positions I couldn't find elsewhere. But the onboarding felt more rushed than other agencies I've compared notes with. My recruiter was professional but clearly managing a large book of travelers. Pay was fair for a first contract but I've since learned I probably could have done better. Three stars — completed my contract successfully, wouldn't call it exceptional.

Seven years traveling — Cross Country sits at four stars for me because I know how to use them. I go in knowing I need to request the right recruiter through referrals, negotiate aggressively, and compare packages with my other agencies. When I do those things, I get solid results. The job volume means there are always options. The key is treating it as a tool with known limitations, not as a turnkey agency relationship.
